    Both display advertising platforms provide you the opportunity to build awareness, however, programmatic advertising gives you access to the Google Display Network plus a host of other ad inventories, including private display networks.

    Programmatic advertising also provides better targeting options, for example if you want to target a niche audience on a specific website, programmatic advertising is the way to go. 

    However, the automated bidding technology that is used in programmatic advertising, does comes with its own set of platform fees and charges, and there is an expectation that the starting minimum spend is a lot higher than GDN.
